Clare dole queues fall hit four year low

The number of Clare residents claiming unemployment benefits has fallen to it’s lowest level in over four years.

While over 9500 people remained on the county’s dole queues at the end of April, this figure fell by 336 in recent weeks.

Falls were recorded in each part of the county last month, with the largest drops in Ennis and in North Clare.

Ennistymon Fianna Fail Councillor Richard Nagle believes that emigration remains a factor, but feels the figures indicate optimism in the local tourism sector
