A former Clare General Election candidate claims women are facing price discrimination on essential clothing and cosmetic products.
Independent research carried out by the Mná Ag Gaire Women’s Shed in Ennis indicates that when items such as shower gel, moisturisers, hair dye and razors are taking into account, women are paying on average 43% more than men.
The findings have been backed up by research from the CSO, which concluded that women branded products are typically more expensive than mens.
Mná ag Gaire Spokesperson Hilary Tonge says the financial burden is significant.
