Fórsa says school secretaries and caretakers in Clare will be on the same footing as their colleagues following members’ acceptance of a Workplace Relations Commission proposal.
Under the proposal, secretaries and caretakers will move onto the Department of Education payroll and will receive paid bereavement leave and enhanced sick leave.

Ninety-four percent of members voted in favour, on an 88 percent turnout.
Vice-chairperson and Treasurer of the Fórsa School Secretaries Branch on the Clare/Galway border, Rena McGrath, says the proposal offers much greater job security.
