Calls have been made for changes to next year’s running of the Etape Hibernia Cycle Race, in order to bring more of the benefits of the race to North Clare.
For each of the last two years, the 80-mile cycle has been held on a closed-road route throughout the county, bringing thousands of competitors and visitors here.

However, it’s claimed that while a large part of the race is in North Clare, most of the benefits come in Ennis, where it starts and finishes..
As a result, Lahinch representative Bill Slattery wants the start to alternate between Ennis and Lisdoonvarna
