CDSL PRO Says Talk Of Sport Ombudsman Could Be Considered ‘Interference’

The PRO of the Clare District Soccer League believes suggestions of a Sport Ombudsman being created could be seen as ‘interference’ into sporting bodies’ work.

It follows the launch of a report earlier this week which contained 11 recommendations following a series of games being cancelled last year due to the abuse of referees.

Members of the Oireachtas Sports Committee says state funding should be withdrawn from organisations if action isn’t taken to stop abuse.

However, CDSL PRO Jim Madden doesn’t believe it’d work, and says bodies already have strong guidelines in place.
