The nomination of Kevin Cardiff to the European Court of Auditors is expected to get the green light today.

MEPs from the European People’s Party say they’ll back Mr Cardiff’s appointment, making almost certain he’ll have enough votes to secure the position.
However, the United Left Alliance’s voting block – the 34-strong European United Left – say they will oppose Cardiff’s bid.
Socialist Party MEP Paul Murphy says Cardiff’s nomination is a cynical move by the Government to free up a space in the Department of Finance.
