Calls For New Crusheen Graveyard As A Matter Of Urgency

Calls have been made for the identification of a site for use as a new graveyard in Crusheen.

Concerns have been raised by residents over a lack of capacity at the current facility, which one Clare Councillor says is resulting in parishioners being forced to look beyond their catchment area for burial plots.

Clare County Council says a public consultation aimed at identifying a site remains ongoing between the the local authority and the community.

 

Maghera Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat Hayes, who raised the matter at this month’s meeting of the Killaloe Municipal District says a new burial site is urgently needed in Crusheen to accommodate the growing population.
