It’s claimed Clare children in the most vulnerable positions are missing out on the services they need, due to lack of investment in this county’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
It comes as the professional body for Psychiatrists in Ireland has called for an overhaul of CAMHS management structures nationwide.
The College of Psychiatrists of Ireland has made five recommendations to government.
These include the need for a new Clinical Service Manager at local and regional levels and for each of member of multi-disciplinary nursing teams to have clearly defined roles.
Chairperson Dr Patricia Byrne says the lack of resources is blocking access to care.
HSE MidWest, meanwhile, says a number of developments have been approved for this year and are in progress, including new eating disorder and paediatric liaison teams.
Manager of Clare Crusaders and former Independent Councillor Ann Norton says it’s clear, however, further investment is needed.
