The Irish Cancer Society wants to see cancer included as a medical condition to entitle applicants to a discretionary medical card.

The group is meeting with the Health Minister Dr. James Reilly and officials from the Department of Health this afternoon to discuss the issue.
Yesterday, the HSE appointed an expert panel to recommend the range of medical conditions that should be considered when determining eligibility.
A public consultation is also underway.
