Burren & Cliffs Explorer Surpasses 100K Passenger Mark

Over 100,000 passengers have now travelled on the Burren and Cliffs Explorer Shuttle Service.

It comes as the local authority is making moves to extend the service beyond its two-year trial period.

The bus service carried over 46,000 passengers in 2025, followed by a further 65,000 between May and September this year.

Now serving thirteen locations across North and North West Clare, the popular bus route looks set to be extended beyond its two-year trial period.

Lisdoonvarna Fine Gael Councillor Joe Garrihy says it’s been a gamechanger for local businesses.

Of those travelling on the service this year, just 17% availed of the complimentary free entry to the Cliffs of Moher Experience and Visitor Centre.

Its continuation into next year and beyond will depend on government funding and stakeholder agreements.

Clare County Council Director of Tourism Services Siobhán McNulty says visitors are clearly showing their desire to explore all Clare has to offer on the route.
