An Australian pilot with family links to Clare was involved in a daring rescue mission in Antarctica.
Last Friday, an Australian rescue crew flew into darkness in temperatures of minus 43 degrees Celsius to carry out a medical evacuation of a US expedition member at McMurdo Station in Antarctica.

Captain Louise Robertson was part of the rescue team, with both her grandparents, Paddy Duggan and Bridget Quinn, hailing from Killaloe and Ruan/Tubber respectively.
Louise has been telling Clare FM’s Morning Focus it was among the most challenging conditions the crew had ever navigated.
