A Clare driving instructor is warning that some learner drivers could be forced to go back to square one if they don’t secure a full licence in the coming months.
From November 1st, learners will face tighter restrictions on renewing permits, including limits on how many times they can do so without taking a test.
The changes have led to a surge in test applications, creating some additional pressure on waiting lists, but currently the waiting time for a test in Ennis, Kilrush and Shannon remains between eight and ten weeks.
Around 1,000 people in this county are on their fourth or subsequent learner permit and Chris Curran of the Chris Curran Coaching Driving School in Ennis says the objective is to urge drivers to apply for their test.
