The grant of planning permission for an ambitious development of a former West Clare Irish college is being hailed as a “step in the right direction”.
Clare County Council has approved plans that will see Coláiste Eoghan Uí Chomhraidhe turned in a year-round cultural centre with overnight accommodation and community facilities.

Established in 1911, the building served as an Irish college during the summer for over a century before closing its doors in 2017.
Chair of the Board of Management, Dr Síle Ní Choincheannain, says they’re open to speaking to all bodies who could assist with the progression of the project.
