Clare’s Independent TD has welcomed confirmation that anglers will once again be allowed to fish, within 5km of their home.
Michael McNamara proposed the move to the Taoiseach in the Dáil last week, after which Leo Varadkar committed to reviewing the proposed easing of restrictions.
Now, Inland Fisheries Ireland has updated its advice that fishing activity can resume, but that social distancing measures remain in place and anglers cannot share vehicles or a boat, if there are more than two of them.
Scariff Deputy McNamara says it’s important for people’s mental health that this activity can take place but he insists that social distancing measures must be maintained at all times.
