Gardaí are investigating an aggravated burglary in Sixmilebridge during which a family were terrorised in their own home.

At around 9 pm on Sunday night up to seven men approached the house at Reaskamogue and began smashing the windows.
One of the gang then gained access to the home and wielding a hammer threatened family members -forcing the householder and his family to flee to a back room and barricade themselves in.
The suspects then left the scene in two vehicles; a black van and a navy Toyota Avensis that was drawing a horsebox.
