Aer Lingus Rejects Calls For Extra Shannon Long-Haul Services

Aer Lingus has poured cold water on calls to move some of the new long-haul routes at Dublin Airport to Shannon.

Fianna Fáil Newmarket-on-Fergus Councillor Pat McMahon wanted the airline to consider scheduling at least one of its 10 recently announced transatlantic routes at the Mid West facility.

However, in response, the airline has told him that demand at Shannon Airport doesn’t meet its commercial criteria for expansion – but that it is regularly reviewed.

Cllr McMahon says he believes this is concerning for the future of the former flag carrier at Shannon.
