Construction is due to get underway on two new sewage treatment plants in West Clare in two years time.
Irish Water has confirmed a budget for the design, planning and construction phase of the projects in Kilkee and Kilrush and are currently in the process of appointing engineers to bring the project to fruition.

Kilkee is one of 45 locations across the country where raw sewage is pumped directly into the sea or waterways and led to the cancellation of the annual Christmas swim.
