Nurses say the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is by far the highest in the country once again today.
The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 117 admitted patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning.

37 of those were on trolleys in the Emergency Department, with a further 80 accommodated in overflow areas of wards.
The overall number represents a fifth of all patients on trolleys across Irish hospitals today, according to the figures.
