The organisers of a long-running music summer school are viewing an accolade to be bestowed on them as a win for the entire traditional music community.
Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy is the recipient of this year’s MÓRglór award which is an acknowledgement by glór in Ennis of those who provide a “vital stimulus for the growth and development of Clare’s unique culture”.
Adding particular poignancy is the fact that the award is named after the festival’s founder, Muiris Ó Rocháin.
A special concert to acknowledge the contribution of Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy will be held in glór on Saturday May 17th, and committee member Harry Hughes says it should be celebrated by all of the festival’s participants through the years.
