Clare County Council has taken a share of a Government fund established to boost diversity in local government structures.
A total of €116,000 has been awarded to local authorities nationwide to support efforts to increase the number of women and people of diverse backgrounds in county and city councils.

Of the 20 local authorities that applied, 19 have received funding, with Clare County Council being awarded €5,000.
It’s the seventh time the initiative has been run and the criteria has been revised to support projects aimed at assisting newly-elected councillors as well as encouraging further diversity in the lead-up to the 2029 local elections.
