Clare Senator Urges Minister To Invest In Flooding Remediation Works On Local Railway Line

A Clare senator is urging the Minister for Transport to heavily invest in flooding remediation works on the Ennis to Limerick railway line.

A section of the line in Ballycar near Newmarket-on-Fergus has experienced persistent drainage issues over a number of years and the route has been temporarily closed on a number of occasions due to the Ballycar section being deemed impassable.

Following recent consultation with the Office of Public Works, the National Parks and Wildlife Service and Clare County Council, Iarnród Éireann has concluded that the sum of €16.7m is required to develop a technically feasible drainage solution.
