On today’s programme Maire spoke with Conor Cullen from Alcohol Action Ireland. They discussed how one in four Irish people have experienced harm as a result of someone else’s drinking. 'The Alcohol's Harm to Others in Ireland' report published by the HSE today found that women (one in six) are more likely to experience family problems, while men (one in nine) are more likely to report assaults due to other people’s drinking. One in ten Irish workers reported difficulties such as having to work extra hours, accidents or close-calls at work due to a co-worker’s drinking habits. While one in ten Irish parents/guardians reported that children came into harms way at least once in the past 12 months as a result of someone else’s drinking. Alcohol Awareness Week takes place next week.
