Morning Focus – Tuesday 22/11/17

The show also included a chat with Dep Michael Fitzmaurice, a member of the Rural Alliance, who is advocating the use of tasers and pepper spray by older people living in rural areas, in an attempt to combat crime.

There was further political discussion when Dr Michael Harty, Clare’s Independent TD, joined Gavin to explain his view on attempts by some fellow Independents to form a political party.

After the 10 o’clock News, Money Doctor, John Lowe joined Gavin for his fortnightly financial advice slot.

Professor Assumpta Ryan, Professor of Ageing and Health in the School of Nursing at the University of Ulster then joined Gavin to outline her research on life for those in nursing homes. Listen back below:

After that, Prof Turi King spoke to Gavin about the exciting Richard III exhibition coming to Galway as part of the Science and Technology Festival.

Then it was time for a visit by Clare’s County Dog Warden, Frankie Coote.

Terri Mahony, author of a new novel entitled ‘Talk is Cheap’ was Gavin’s next guest. The book will be launched on November 23 at 7pm in the Pery Hotel on Glentworth Street in Limerick. Listen back below:

Then, talk turned to the festive season, with Fr Desmond O’Donnell joining Gavin to explain why he believes Christmas has been ‘hijacked’ by Santa and his reindeer. Listen back below:
