The show opened with Bernard Glouster, Chief Officer of Community Healthcare Organisations in Clare and Limerick who spoke about the rumoured move for St. Joseph’s Hospital, Ennis.

The new Community Elderly Care Facility will be built in Ennis and is due to open by 2021. It will provide 100 beds for the elderly comprising 75 long-stay and 25 short stay beds.

Next, Eamon Murphy from Social Justice Ireland discussed the issues with rural broadband. Social Justice Ireland are calling on the government to invest in areas that will improve the quality of life for people across Ireland.

We heard how no doctor has been rostered for the new community air ambulance from Irish Community Rapid Response CEO John Kearney. The Air Ambulance is expected to respond to about 500 calls per year.

Money Doctor John Lowe returned to offer financial advice and answer some listeners queries.

Chair of the Family and Child Law committee of the Law Society, Keith Walsh spoke about the new legal guide for cohabiting couples. The Law Society is now offering free, accessible information on their rights on the Law Society’s legal guides webpage.

Spanish Point athlete and throat cancer survivor, Rita Kierce was recently honoured by members of Clare County Council. She spoke to Clare FM’s James Mulhall.

The second hour concluded with our regular Animal Welfare segment with Clare County Dog Warden Frankie Coote.

In the last hour of Morning Focus Bernadette Kenny, CEO of the Bluebox Children’s Charity spoke about how the charity is reaching society’s most vulnerable. Trained Creative Arts Therapists work with children who need support at school or home to help guide them through difficult times.

Then, we had a discussion about Clare’s success in this year’s Tidy Towns Awards. Ennis Tidy Towns Chairman, Cormac McCarthy, Kilrush Tidy Towns Vice Chair, Murt Collins and Scarriff Tidy Towns representative Niamh Wiley all spoke to Gavin on air. Ennis won the county title but lost out on Ireland’s Tidiest Town to Listowel.

As the campaign continues to secure the future of Kilfenora Post Office, Gavin was joined by Ruairí Ó Conchubair who outlined a major development for the campaign. Ahead of a public meeting tonight (Tue, Sept 25), a local business has come forward to express its interest in taking over the service.

The show finished with Elizabeth Kirwan from the National Library of Ireland telling us about the talk on West Clare images in Lawrence College, Kilrush tonight. Elizabeth will present on the Lawrence Photographic Collection, focusing on the Lawrence photographs of the Kilrush district.
