GAA Update:

The Clare minor hurlers are through to a Munster Championship Semi-final thanks to last night’s dramatic win over Waterford in Dungarvan.

An injury time point from Conor McGrath earned the Banner a 1-12 to 0-14 win and a final four clash on June 24th against the winners of Waterford and Limerick.

Clare recovered from a poor start to lead 6-5 at half time thanks to 4 Conor McGrath frees and points from Eoin Hanrahan and Patrick O’Connor.

It was a scrappy enough affair where keeping the sliotar under control was a difficult task on a greasy surface but that did favour Clare 10 minutes from time.

Trailing by a point after 3 successive wides a long range Conor McGrath free dropped short for the Waterford goalkeeper to deflect into his own net. The Deise rallied immediately through magnificent young centre back Martin O’Neill who scored all of their 2nd half tally but just when it looked like it was going to extra time. Cratloe man McGrath arced over the winning score.

Also on the scoresheet for Clare were Daire Keane, and Substitute Conor O’Donnell.

In tonight’s fixtures, Clooney-Quin meet Tulla in Round 4 of the Clare Cup at 7 o’clock, with the venue switched to Tulla.

Eire Og host Whitegate in Division 2a at 7 while in football, Lissycasey play Wolfetones in Division 2 Round 6 at 7.
