Clare’s Sinn Fein TD is urging the Government to deliver up to €4 million to Shannon Group to ensure Clare’s heritage sites can remain open year round.
The call from Violet-Anne Wynne comes after Shannon Group CEO Mary Considine admitted they will have no option but to close Bunratty Castle and King John’s Castle at the end of this month, unless the funding is delivered.
The Group are due to meet with SIPTU representatives this morning to attempt to provide clarity, amid fears over potential job losses at the sites.
