Clare-Dublin Water Pump “Not The Solution” To Dublin Water Issues

Irish Water is being urged not to view plans to pump water from Clare to Dublin as a solution to the capital’s current water crisis.

With 600,000 homes in the Greater Dublin Area currently impacted by a boil water notice for the second time in a fortnight, it’s led to fresh concern over plans to pump water from the Shannon at Parteen up to the capital.

It’s estimated the pipeline system would cost between €1.4 billion and €2 billion and it has long been a sticking point for people in this region.

Gerry Siney from the River Shannon Protection Alliance says despite what’s happening with the Dublin water system, this isn’t the answer.
