Clare Commuters On Alert This Morning As Storm Lorenzo Passes Over

Clare commuters are being put on alert this morning, even as Storm Loenzo has so far led to no major incidents in the county.

Gusts of 85 kilometres per hour were recorded in Shannon in the early hours of this morning and sustained winds are expected to continue until 11 o’clock.

A fresh, low-level Status Yellow alert has been put in place until then.

Clare’s Emergency Services are reporting a quiet night, but are urging motorists to be on alert for flooding and debris, particularly in coastal areas.

Nationally, Around 4-thousand homes and businesses are without power this morning.

The ESB says there are 34 homes without power near Scarriff, but problems are at their worst in Limerick, Galway. Mayo, Kerry, and Dublin.

Shannon Airport is operating as normal today, and is advising passengers to contact their airlines for up-to-date flight information.
