ULHG Ennis General And Limerick ED To Operate As Normal During Health Workers Strike

The UL Hospitals Group is reminding patients that Ennis General Hospital and the emergency department in Limerick will operate as normal today.

Around 10,000 health support staff nationwide – including 800 at University Hospital Limerick began strike action at 8 o’clock this morning, after talks at the Workplace Relations Commission failed to reach a resolution.

The dispute centres around pay and a jobs evaluation scheme, with SIPTU claiming its members are owed over €16 million.

Ennis General is unaffected by today’s action and anyone whose appointment in Limerick has been cancelled will have been contacted by now.

Three further back-to-back strikes are planned for next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday if no resolve can be found.
