It’s claimed extortionate car insurance costs are forcing young people out of rural Clare and on to boats and planes to live abroad.
O’Briensbridge native Seán Naughten, who’s running in the upcoming local elections for Sinn Féin, wants a pay-as-you-go system introduced so that young people are able to afford to insure their cars.
This would mean a base payment of €150 applied to the policy and a black box monitoring system installed, with the remaining costs based on usage.
