Shane Lowry has set a new course-record at Doonbeg as he charged to the top of the leaderboard on day two of golf’s Irish Open.
The Offaly man, who won the tournament as an amateur in 2009, has signed for an eight-under-par round of 62 to establish a three-shot lead over the field.

Lowry says it’s particularly pleasing to play well in front of his home support:
Tom McKibbin is well placed on five-under after his round of 67 today.
Defending champion Rory McIlroy has had back-to-back 69s to sit on two-under into the weekend.
