David McCarthy scored four goals for Clare, as the Banner secured just a second ever Oscar Traynor Cup title against the Leinster Senior League.
Despite being visitors for the game in Crumlin, Clare got off to the best start as Eoin Hayes scored a sixth minute penalty to get into an early 1-0 lead.
This was then doubled after more good work from Hayes, which allowed McCarthy score his first of the day.
However, the Leinster League weren’t giving up – Chris Straessle scored a penalty to make it 2-1 at the break.
The LSL were reduced to ten men in the second half, and the extra space allowed Clare to stay in front. McCarthy scored their three second-half goals, with only a strike from Straessle in response.
The game finished 5-2 in favour of Clare, and captain Patrick Purcell lifted the Cup for Clare for only the second time in its history.
