Ennis track athlete Cathal Crosbie competed in his debut championship in Sweden at the European under 23 Athletics Championships.

A fantastic debut for Ennis Track athlete Cathal Crosbie representing Ireland in the U23 European Championships 400m heat. He narrowly missed out on qualifying from his 400m heat coming 5th in a time of 47.98. Cathal was part of the 4 x 400 relay team for Ireland who were 10th over all in 3.09.02 -just missing out on the final by.4 of a second.

Staying with European Athletics News

Clare FM/Cummins Car Centre Sports Star of the Month Nominee in June Jo Keane (Ennis Track Athletic Club) will be part of a very strong Irish U20 Athletic team for the U20 European Championships in Sweden from 18th – 21st July. Jo will take part in the 800m.

In 2018, Jo took part for Ireland at the world under 20 championships in Tampere Finland in the 800m in 2018. She finished 7th in her heat in 2:09.59 and went through as a fastest qualifier at the IAAF World U20 championships. After great running, she finished 5th in her 800m semi Final of the World Under 20 Championships in a new PB of 2.06.91.

Results from the National Juvenile Track & Field Championships in Tullamore

Field Events: Ava Rochford took 3 Gold medals in Tullamore at the All Ireland Juvenile Track & Field Championships. In sweltering summer sunshine Ava got her day off to a fantastic start claiming first spot in the 80m hurdles holding off Victoria Amiadamen from Dooneen in a very close race.

In the High Jump Ava was a clear Winner going on to jump 1.64. She came very close with her record attempt at 1.68 but just missed out. Ava’s third gold medal was on the final day in Girls u15 Pole Vault with a jump of 2.45.

Track Events: two Ennis athletes had great success – Niall Murphy took silver in the boys u16 : 3,000m in a time of 9.29.23.

In the boys U17 3000m: Mark Hanrahan took gold again for second year in a row in a time of 9.08.05.
