Munster Intermediate Ladies Football Final – Sunday, 16th June 2019
Tipperary 0-20 Clare 1-4
Aishling Molony produced a devastating tour de force solo effort as she inspired Tipperary to a third Munster intermediate title in four years.
When Grainne Nolan struck a 35th minute penalty to make it 0-9 to 1-4, Clare were back in the tie.
But then Moloney took over hitting nine on the spin to bring the Premier County out of sight before Caoimhe Condon and Moloney concluded an 11-point unanswered scoring spree.
It looked so different in the first half as the teams were level 0-4 apiece after the quarter hour. Niamh O’Dea got Clare’s first three scores before Roisin Considine added another.
But Caoimhe Condon, Aishling McCarthy and Niamh Lonergan gave Tipperary a 0-7 to 0-4 interval lead.
Aisling McCarthy and Moloney stretched the margin to five before Grainne Nolan gave Clare a lifeline with her penalty.
Clare still advance to the All-Ireland and will expect to be involved after the round-robin series. They’ll take many lessons from this defeat.
