Unveiling Of Michael McTigue Sculpture To Take Place This Weekend

On Thursday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Michael McTigue who is a distant relative of Mike McTigue. Michael previewed the sculpture unveiling that will take place this weekend which will see a memorial unveiled in honour of legendary local boxer Mike McTigue who hails from Kilnamona. Michael discussed the fundraising involved in order to produce a sculpture which will be unveiled at the memorial. He commented on the pride that is felt among the parish of Kilnamona regarding Mike’s achievements and noted what he meant to the community, county and country. He described the sculpture of Mike that will be unveiled which reflects his significance as an Irish sporting icon. Michael also mentioned some of the various guests that will be in attendance on the day such as Brian Peter’s who is Katie Taylor’s manager, Paddy Donovan, Mel Christle and Kieran Molloy.
The unveiling of the sculpture is set to take place on Saturday 18th March at 2pm at Kilnamona Cross on the N85 at 2pm.
