Roche Ireland has been granted final planning permission to clear the plant at its Clarecastle site.

The works are now on track to begin this summer.

It will allow for the pharmaceutical company to demolish all existing buildings, structures and infrastructure, on, in, over and under the 88 acre site at its operations in Clarehill, Clarecastle.

Roche believes the existing landfills contain what they describe as ‘hazardous wastes’ that would have the potential to impact the environment of the area should they remain untreated.

Approximately 160 people will be employed on site during the works, which are scheduled to begin in the middle of this year.

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus, Gavin Grace spoke to Gerry Cahill, Managing Director / Site Lead for Roche Ireland.
