Robert Phillips Describes His Artic Circle Adventure In Aid Of Charity ‘Sightsavers’

On Friday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Robert Phillips who is originally from Wales living in County Clare. Robert recently took part in an expedition of the Arctic Circle in order to raise money for the charity ‘Sightsavers’. Robert expressed his love for adventures and fitness along with describing what inspired him to take part in the expedition. He made reference to his close connection with the charity ‘Sightsavers’ and his previous sponsorship of the charity through his business. He described the level of training and preparation that went into to being ready for the expedition. Robert acknowledged the type of climate that the group faced in the Artic Circle and recalled some of the various obstacles that were put in their way as a group. He commented on the relief and delight of the group upon completing the expedition along with the satisfaction he felt on a personal level. The group raised a total of €90,000 for the ‘Sightsavers’ charity who are an international charity working to prevent avoidable blindness, support equality for people with disabilities and advocate for change.
