Public Urged To Be TB – Aware As Disease Remains Present in The Mid-West Region

On Thursday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Dr Marie Casey who is a Consultant in Public Health Medicine at Public Health Mid – West. She discussed the warning issued by the Department of Public Health Mid – West to the people of Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary to be aware of tuberculosis with the disease remaining present in the area. Marie described the disease which mainly affects the lungs and other parts of the body and highlighted the most common symptoms of tuberculosis. She also stated that the disease is easily treatable if diagnosed early and also made reference to the tuberculosis contact tracing clinic that has been set up in St John’s Hospital in Limerick.
