New Book Reflects On ‘Mr Moonlight’ Murder Trial

On today’s Morning Focus, Catherine Fegan joined us on the line following the release of her new book, The Murder of Mr Moonlight.

The book documents the notorious trial of Pat Quirke, who was ‘discovered’ the body of DJ Bobby Ryan on the farm of Mary Lowry, the wealthy young widow he had been seeing. After the longest-running murder trial in Irish history, Quirke was convicted of murder in May.

Catherine was in court for every day of the trial, as part of her work for the Irish Daily Mail, and has continued to investigate the story since, carrying out interviews in Tipperary and further afield with people directly connected to the case. The book contains information that hasn’t previously been available, plus fresh insights into the characters involved.
