As we celebrate 100 years of radio in Ireland, we’re looking back at the incredible role it has played in our lives — from the early days of Radio Éireann to the presenters, programmes and voices that became part of our everyday lives.
Author and academic Rosemary Day has delved into that history, exploring everything from women in broadcasting and Irish-language radio to community, pirate and internet radio, and how radio has reflected and shaped Irish society over the past century.
Rosemary is an Associate Professor and Head of Media and Communication Studies at Mary Immaculate College, and she also has a long history with community radio.
