On Thursday’s Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey was joined by Scott Casson-Rennie, Chief Operating Officer at FASD Ireland with HQ offices in Ennis.

This coming Saturday, the 9th of September, is International FASD Day.

FASD stands for Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. FASD results when prenatal alcohol exposure affects the developing brain and body.

International FASD Day falls on the 9th day of the 9th month, to highlight the importance of avoiding alcohol for the 9 months of pregnancy to help prevent FASD.

Scott explained the importance of the upcoming event and raising awareness.

He also spoke about the increase of awareness for FASD in Ireland and outlined the progress FASD Ireland have made.

Scott showcased the services FASD Ireland provide to those that are in need.
