Policy & Rights
Welcome to this week’s episode of The Future of Disability Services on Clare FM.
The National Human Rights Strategy for Disabled People 2025 to 2030 is Ireland’s plan to advance the realisation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The Disability Act 2005 provides for the assessment of health and education needs of persons with disabilities and also provides for a complaints mechanism in the case of non-provision of services
However, people with a disability continue to face significant challenges including discrimination which often result in legal proceedings.
Aisling Glynn is a solicitor based in Kilrush and deals with such cases. She has a master’s degree in international disability law and policy.
Aisling was diagnosed with her impairment while she was a teenager and despite some challenges, continues to live her life and enjoy a successful career.
