A Feakle mother whose son is profoundly deaf is calling for an expanded roll out of sign language lessons in schools and local communities.
There are roughly 3,000 people in Ireland considered profoundly deaf, which means they cannot hear any sounds below 95 decibels, which is well above the threshold of general conversation.

Padraic Smith is currently hurling with Feakle-Killanena , where the club has implemented a number of supports, and next Friday a fundraiser at Peppers Bar will aim to roll out further sign language lessons locally.
His mother Katie has told Clare FM’s Morning Focus it could make a huge difference.
