Day Three Of Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey presented a piece by Clare FM’s Therese McInerney. Therese took a trip to Miltown Malbay to witness day three of the Willie Clancy Summer School. The Willie Clancy Summer School is a week-long summer school in traditional music and set dance held annually at Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare.

Therese spoke with Patrick Shannon from Lahinch who started off the day with his accordion. He discussed how he is taking accordion lessons in Quilty and is at the Willie Clancy Summer School for the brilliant music.

Afterwards she interviewed Dave Powers, owner of Powers Fine Violins. He highlighted how he started up his store and spoke about his own experience at the Willie Clancy Summer School.

Finally, Therese met a young concertina player, Roisin. She showcased her skills with the instrument by playing a song for Therese.
