Clare’s Retained Firefighters Set To Strike Due To Recruitment And Retention Crisis

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Edward Moloney who is the Shop Steward at Killaloe Fire Station. Edward spoke about Clare’s retained firefighters preparation for a planned upcoming strike that will commence on Tuesday June 6th. He highlighted the reason for taking industrial action which is as a result of a recruitment and retention crisis among firefighting staff in the banner county.

If no resolution is found to the dispute, rolling strikes will commence from the 13th of June, followed by an all-out strike from the 20th of June, should a failure to find a resolution remain.
