Clare County Council Hears Calls For Direct Provision To End

Recently on Morning Focus there has been talks about putting an end to direct provision centre. On yesterday’s show (12th March, Monday), Donnah joined Gavin on air to talk about her experiences.

Donnah Vuma spoke about her experiences living in Direct Provision in Knockalisheen.

She was among a delegation to speak in front of the local authority yesterday to urge them to play their part in ending direct provision as it is in this country.

The group, made up mainly of members of the Ennis and District Soroptimists, believe the time that people are left in the system is too long and they want something to be done to cut down the waits for those in need.

Clare FM’s James Mulhall went along to the meeting and there he spoke with Pamela Clancy, President of the Ennis and District Soroptimists, and Sarah Malone, fellow soroptimist, and owner of Zest.

They explained how this is all came about in the first place.
