Welcome to another episode of Ours To Protect on Clare FM.
Today we’re going to hear about the Circular Economy and the work that Circular Communities are doing in their local areas.
A circular community is one that focuses on preventing the generation of waste, including reducing single-use materials; separating and managing food waste effectively within the community.
It’s also about encouraging sustainable practices to reuse and circulate resources locally instead of disposing of them.
It’s such an important part of preventing waste and protecting our environment that local authorities are proving grants to local groups so that they can create their own circular community.
Clare County Council is currently accepting applications for their Building a Circular Community Grant Scheme 2025.
In this epsiode, we first hear from Pupils from Ennis CBS who have some questions about today’s topic.
Then, to tell us more about the Circular Economy and Circular Communities, Pat Flynn met with Karen Foley, Environmental Awareness Officer with Clare County Council.
