Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 14, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Katherine A. Malone (nee Manion) for 26 years. Loving father of Dorothy E. (Mark) Overland, Michael F. Malone, Brian P. (Joanne) Malone, and Timothy J. (Jeanette) Malone. Cherished grandfather of Katie, Kelsey, Claire, Kerry, Abby, Ian, Timmy, Evan, and Sean. Dear brother of Nuala, Brian, and Terry. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Graduating from Saint Flannan’s College, Ennis, Michael emigrated from Ireland upon his 21st birthday, in 1958. Arriving in Chicago, he began working for Peter Shannon & Co. and was introduced to a career in Accounting and Finance. He earned a Master’s Degree in Accounting, and after many years with Midwest Stock Exchange he retired from the Securities and Exchange Commission in 1999.
After raising his family in Tinley Park, he spent his retirement close to them in his Frankfort home as well as in Naples, FL and Lakes of the Four Seasons, IN. There was nothing more important to him than being with his nine grandchildren, especially when all were together… “FAMILY!”
A proud citizen of the United States of America, he was an Irishman to his core–known for his Gaelic prayer, his Irish blessings…and a lilting Danny Boy sung to friends and strangers alike. In the mid 1960’s, Michael was one of the founding members of the Clareman’s Association, now known as the Clare Association of Chicago… “Up the Banner!”
Michael was proud to have served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, often reminding others: “Once a Marine, always a Marine”.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from the hours of 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Brady-Gill Funeral Home, 16600 S. Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park. Family and Friends will gather on Friday, July 22, 2022, from the hours of 9:00am until the time of Service at 11:00 am, at Brady-Gill Funeral Home. Inurnment to be held at a later date.
