Whitegate Councillor “Unsurpised” By Septic Tank Failure Rate

A Whitegate Councillor has described the high failure rate in domestic waste system inspections across the county as "unsurprising".

New figures reveal the Local Authority's Environment section carried out 49 inspections across Clare last year with 40% of them failing, though the figure remains below the national average.

Many households who do not pass inspections are entitled to financial assistance from the government to bring their systems up to standard. 

Councillor Pat Burke says the problems are associated mostly with properties constructed in the eighties.
