West Clare TD Insists Kilrush Wholly Inadequate For Asylum Seeker Accommodation

A Clare Independent TD believes the government is blatantly disregarding the human resources required to facilitate Asylum Seekers.

It comes as the provider of Corliss House in Kilrush has been offered a twelve month contract from the Department of Integration to accommodate Male International Protection Applicants.

The former office building has capacity for 23 residents across 10 rooms varying in size , with the provider stipulating that lockable bedrooms, partitioned showers and toilets will be in place to ensure privacy.

The IPA’s will also be entitled to avail of a medical card throughout the duration of their stay.

However Kilrush Deputy Violet Anne Wynne has been telling ClareFM’s Daragh Dolan it is inhumane to place refugees in a location with limited privacy and healthcare access.
